Rücker AG: demand is still improving
Business recovery in the first quarter of 2010 – Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increase disproportionately - Gratifying increase in foreign business
Wiesbaden, 05 May 2010
In the first quarter of the new year demand for the goods and services of Rücker AG of Wiesbaden improved further. After a difficult 2009 the publicly quoted engineering group, which mainly concerns itself with technical development for well-known international automobile and aircraft makers, experienced first symptoms of an economic recovery. Last year's negative trend was stopped. Increasing demand yielded a turnover improvement in the first quarter of 2010 by 1.7% to 35.4 million Euros (2009: 34.8 million Euros). EBIT increased disproportionately from 0.3 to 1.9 million Euros. By contrast with the only slightly positive results for the first quarter last year the same quarter this year ended with a surplus to 31 March 2010 of 1.1 million Euros. Discernible foreign business recovery and the cost structure improvements initiated last year contributed to this gratifying result.
Wolfgang Rücker, chairman of Rücker AG, commented that "Business in this first quarter of 2010 was gratifying and orders have improved. We feel we're on the right track".
The market for engineering development goods and services recovered to some extent in early 2010. Rücker AG sees good opportunities ahead leading to further growth in its main business area, the automobile industry. We ascribe this primarily to the development of electronic components and new drive concepts.
