Rücker AG double-digit improvement in the first six months

Major operating profit increase in 2011 - Profited from positive market developments - 500 more engineers sought

Wiesbaden, 03 August 2011

The publicly listed globally active engineering contractor Rücker AG of Wiesbaden in Germany profited considerably in the first half of 2011 from the sales successes of the leading carmakers and the increased demand associated with it. Year-on-year our turnover increased by 17% during this period to 86 million Euros (73.3 million Euros in 2010). Domestic business improved especially well (26%).

Increased volume of business led to greatly disproportionate improvement in results as fixed costs increased only to a minor extent. EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) rose 54% to 4.3 million Euros (2010 2.8 million Euros). After interest and taxes this left 2.5 million Euros for the first six months of 2011. That’s a year-on-year increase of 44% (2010 1.7 million Euros). Increased demand was reflected in increased costs for investments in tangible assets and software of 2.1 million Euros (2010: 1.5 million Euros). We had a total of 2,285 employees on 30 June 2011. As the order situation is good we need to recruit a further 500 engineers.

In addition to leading carmakers our clientele includes well known aviation, railway engineering, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and environmental engineering companies. Wolfgang Rücker, chairman of the group, commented on the results of the first half of 2011 by stating that “The market for engineering development and services improved greatly in 2011. This is mainly due to improvement in virtually all the relevant markets. Fortunately for us we have profited from the increase in development orders commissioned by the world’s automobile industry. This particularly applies to future-oriented electronic components and alternative power concepts as well as new and lighter materials and current and future legal requirements for improved safety measures”. Rücker is optimistic about the near future in view of the positive trends already apparent.
