Rücker AG continues to prosper

Double digit growth in turnover and results in the first quarter of 2011 – Optimistic re the future - Now recruiting engineers in the new EU nations - A further 500 recruits sought

Wiesbaden, 04 May 2011

The publicly quoted engineering goods and services contracting group Rücker AG based in Wiesbaden, Germany, turned in double digit improvements in turnover and results figures for the first months of this year and remains on course for success thanks to its gratifying order situation. In the first quarter of 2011 the group, which mainly provides engineering goods and services to the world’s automobile and aviation industries, improved turnover by a good 16% to 40.9 million Euros (1st quarter 2010 35.4 million Euros). Growth domestically at 22% was much higher than the 6% achieved on foreign markets. For the entire year 2010, by contrast, foreign turnover was far better than domestic as economic recovery set in in foreign countries earlier than in Germany.

Increased volume of business led in the first quarter of this year to a greatly disproportionate improvement in results as fixed costs increased only to a minor extent. EBIT( Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) rose from 1.9 million Euros in 2010 by 51% to 2.9 million Euros.

After interest and taxes this left 1.8 million Euros as of 31 March 2011. That’s a year-on-year increase of 1.1 million Euros or 53%.

Wolfgang Rücker, chairman of Rücker AG, commented that “Demand for our engineering goods and services continues to grow. This is mainly due to improvement in virtually all the relevant markets. We view the rest of 2011 optimistically and assume our turnover will continue to grow”.

The group did very well in the 2010 financial year too thanks to well-filled order books and increased demand for its goods and services.

Rücker AG believes the global automobile market will continue to expand in view of the wide variety of new models contemplated. The group considers that this applies to the aviation industry as well. Safety rules protecting road users will in future be tightened by EU law. Emergency braking systems, lane guidance assistants, tyre pressure monitoring and prescribed use of headlights in daylight involve development costs that will benefit Rücker AG. Alternative concepts such as hybrid and electric drive and fuel consumption optimisation will improve the environment-friendliness of mobility generally. New lighter materials will help here and lead to greater development expenditure which will benefit us too.

The group currently employs 2,500 people worldwide, most of them engineers. In view of increasing demand and the resultant growth to be expected finding good recruits is a major challenge. In Wolfgang Rücker’s view “We’ve fine-tuned our recruiting by appealing directly to applicants, students and trainees in a variety of campaigns. At the moment we’re looking for another 500 engineers and designers for immediate employment”.

The group’s recruiting measures will, it is hoped, benefit from the EU’s opening of its labour market, which came into effect in Germany on 01 May 2011. Rücker has already taken the appropriate action.
