Rücker AG: Result remains in plus
A positive EBIT still, despite a downturn – The first half year of 2009 was strongly effected – Turnover significantly lower – Diversification introduced

Wiesbaden, 5th August 2009 – The effects of the international financial and economic crisis had a quite negative effect on the order situation for Rücker AG, Wiesbaden, also during the first half of 2009. The board of directors of the publicly traded engineering company already reacted quite early to the business downturns to stabilise the results situation by introducing a comprehensive bundle of measures which included optimisation of the personnel numbers and fixed costs as well as structural improvements and introduction of short-time work. This allowed the company to continue to achieve a positive result (EBIT) after the previous six months of this business year, despite the significant business downturn which nevertheless, at € 244,000, was significantly less than the value for the first six months of 2008 (€ 5 million). The net income for the year after deduction of taxes and interest costs was a slight minus of € 272,000
(plus € 2.9 million in the first half of 2008).
The turnover achieved by Rücker dropped by 25% in the first half of 2009 to
€ 66.7 million (€ 88.9 million in the first half of 2008). The overseas business, with a reduction of 36%, was effected far more strongly than business done by branches on the domestic market.
The number of employees in the company was reduced because of delays in projects and capacity adjustments made at subcontractors by 17.8% to 2,103.
Wolfgang Rücker, Chairman of the Board of Rücker AG, sees many good opportunities to improve the order situation just as soon as the low point of the financial and economic crisis has been overcome and the dynamics of the economy again move back into positive territory: "The large variety of the planned new models in the automobile and aerospace industries can then quickly lead to a significant increase in business volume. We have also already introduced strategic measures for diversification of the company and associated building up of the business areas."

The company Rücker AG, Wiesbaden, which was founded in 1970 by the present day Chairman of the Board, and which has been a publicly traded company since the year 2000, is an engineering company which is one of the leading technology development companies for the international automobile and aerospace industry.
